The DATAIR-400/M3+ instrument and accessories are supplied in a flite case, Part Number: DATAIR-400/M3+/FC.

The DATAIR-400/M3+ contains the same basic features found in DATAIR-400/M3 with the data entry in engineering units format for transmitted ARINC 429 data. Data values for up to 150 labels can be entered and the values and configuration can be saved in one of ten user profiles for easy and fast recall for different projects.

Standard labels held in non-volatile ROM can be recalled, modified and saved as custom labels if required. These special labels can override the standard definitions if required. These custom labels can be suspended or deleted altogether if they are no longer required. The customised labels can be separated by the standard hexadecimal equipment identifier as there can be multiple different definitions for the same ARINC 429 label covering the various standard ARINC 429 architectures.

We provide a software utilty for users that would prefer to define their custom engineering unit Labels on a PC.

The DATAIR-400/M3+ is an enhanced version of the DATAIR-400/M3 and it includes all features of the DATAIR-400/M3. Please refer to the  DATAIR-400/M3 for a description of the basic functions if you are not familiar with this product. The DATAIR-400/M3+ has the following enhancements:

  • ARINC 429 data capture with time stamp (up to 11.9 hours duration with 100uS resolution),
  • Large 522,144 ARINC 429 Label capture to non-volatile storage,
  • Filtered ARINC 429 Labels to capture including the option to specify Conditional ('<=', '>=') data value, SSM, Parity error, etc., 
  • Start and Stop Triggers for starting and stopping a data capture, 
  • Relay contact to signal a Start or Stop of triggered data capture,
  • Pre-trigger and post trigger buffers so that events prior to the trigger condition can be viewed,
  • Extensive post data capture search and filtering tools on the DATAIR-400/M3+ to locate the events of interest.
  • Filter a sub-set of captured ARINC 429 Labels to display,
  • Search for specific ARINC 429 Label only,
  • Scroll forwards and backwards through captured data,
  • Jump to First record, Trigger record or Last record,
  • View All data or only data where values have changed (eliminates static values from display),
  • A 0 to 10V output that can be assigned to any Label that has an associated engineering units definition (ie. Altitude, Airspeed, etc), 
  • Discrete relay output that can be assigned to a discrete bit within a user selectable ARINC 429 Label,
  • Built-in USB interface so that an external USB / RS232 adpater cable is not required,
  • 5 to 30 volt DC external power input for operating the DATAIR-400/M3+ from an aircraft supply.

DATAIR-400/M3+ Handheld ARINC 429 Tester Detail

Data Capture:

The DATAIR-400/M3+ can be used to capture real time data from an ARINC 429 data bus.
There are two modes of data capture: (1) Manual capture and (2) Triggered capture.

  1. The Manual data capture can be started and stopped by the user.
  2. The Triggered data capture will start a capture and / or stop a capture dependent upon the various trigger conditions configured by the user.

Data captures can be set up to capture all the active ARINC 429 Labels or just a specific subset of Labels of interest to the user.

A triggered data capture can be setup to start and / or stop when a particular trigger condition occurs. Trigger conditions can be set for a selected ARINC 429 Label, the data values ('<=', '>=') for starting and / or stopping the capture, the SSM value and a Parity condition. Each of the trigger conditions contains a "Don't care" condition so that any of the possible triggers conditions can be ignored.

A relay output can be assigned such that it will activate when a Start or Stop trigger condition has occured.

The DATAIR-400/M3+ contains extensive post capture filtering and analysis tools for selecting the data of interest and displaying it to the user. Searches for ARINC 429 Labels, data values, SSM conditions, Parity errors, etc., are all within the capability of this capable instrument.

0 to 10 volt Output:

The internal D/A Converter can be assigned to any ARINC 429 Label that has been defined with an engineering unit definition. For example "Ground Speed" from Label 312 could be assigned so that the zero to full scale value is output as a 0 to 10 volt output.
For parameters that have a +/- content, it is possible to have a 0V-5V-10V output representing -FS, Zero and +FS. 

Discrete relay output:

The internal volt free relay on the DATAIR-400/M3+ can be assigned to an individual bit within any selected ARINC 429 Label. The operation of the relay contact can be inverted from the true state of the selected bit if required.
